Strikeforce: Miami complete fight results

The California based promotion, Strikeforce,  hit Florida for the  very first time on Jan. 30 at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise with a twelve-bout fight card that included two title fights as main events.

Nick Diaz faced Marius Zaromskis for the first Strikeforce Welterweight Championship and Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos defended her title against Marloes Coenen. Read more…

UFN 20: Maynard vs. Diaz Final Results

Hosted by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC),  the  Ultimate Fight Night 20 took place at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. on Monday, Jan. 11. The fight card was headlined by Gray Maynard and Nate Diaz in a fight that had serious implications for a title shot against B.J Penn in the lightweight division. The card also included  winners of the reality show The Ultimate Fighter Efrain Escudero and Amir Sadollah.

The main card aired for free on Spike TV at 9 pm ET and the replay started at midnight.

As main event Jamie Varner and Ben Henderson faced off in a lightweight title unification bout.  Also featured on the card were former featherweight champions, Urijah Faber and Mike Brown, who fought top contenders Raphael Assuncao and Anthony Morrison. WEC 46 Predictions

WEC 46 will feature Jamie Varner vs. Ben Henderson in the main event to unify the WEC Lightweight title at the ARCO Arena in Sacramento, Cal. on Jan.10, 2009. In the co-main event former featherweight champion Urijah Faber  will take on Raphael Assuncao. A win would get him back on tracks for a title shot. Also on the card another former featherweight champion, Mike Brown, will face Anthony Morrison. Brown will try to redeem himself with a win after he lost his belt to Jose Aldo at WEC 44.

UFC 108 delivers night of quick victories

UFC 108 took place on Jan. 2 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Two fights of the undercard aired free on Spike TV, inaugurating the series of prelims that Spike TV and the UFC have planned to telecast in 2010.  A long list of fighters withdrew due to illness or injury. The match makers finally set up a fight card headlined by Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva. Naturally, this main event didn’t cause as much excitement for fans as a championship bout between Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin would have. Nevertheless, the fight card turned out to be pretty interesting. Read more…

UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva results

UFC 108: Evans vs. Silva takes place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. The fight card has been cursed with many withdrawals due to illness and injuries. The main event features former Light Heavyweight Champion Rashad Evans and Thiago Silva. In the co-main event Paul Daley couldn’t make weight and will fight Dustin Hazelett at 172 pounds.
